Hungry writers had the distinct pleasure of venturing to Petrossian Boutique & Cafe to sample the luxury eatery’s new offerings. We nibbled politely (then devoured with backs turned) on zesty cookies and muffins available now through the end of Summer. Here’s what we cheerfully ate:
Parmesan shortbread with fennel ($1.75 per cookie) are scrumptious hexagons with the perfect blend of salty-sweet taste. The Parmesan Rosemary ($1.75 per cookie) is a petite oval that is robust and rightly spiced. The Lemon Thyme Muffin ($2.25) is dense yet moist. Savory and sweet as well, this is a truly flavorful and satisfying mini-cake. The cookies are good quick snacks for on-the-go New Yorkers, or as nice sides with a soup at home. As for the muffins, they are excellent for breakfast or anytime special treats.
And we can’t forget the jams ($12.00 each) – glorious spreadable perfection in glass jars! The preserves have a pure, subtly chunky, texture with divine taste. All the fruits and vegetables are cut and processed by hand using fresh, quality ingredients, locally sourced when possible. French methods are used in making these jams, allowing fruit to macerate overnight to coax out the luscious flavors of berries, stone fruits and vegetables.
Jam varieties include Raspberry Pepper, Florida Strawberry, Plum Ginger Apricot, and Raspberry Chocolate. Wonderful as toppings or go get a silver spoon – they are that fabulous. Now if you don’t share, each jar may last you a week.
Petrossian Boutique and Café is just a few doors from Petrossian Restaurant. Open every day, the Boutique features a vast selection of Petrossian’s renowned caviar, foie gras, smoked fish and other delicacies, as well as a fine selection of chocolates and teas. Bakery items are made fresh daily and on the premises.
