Backstage, Revlon’s Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, created a sporty, sun-kissed look for Rag & Bone’s Spring 2012 Collection at their Friday night show. The dewy, effortless look was a perfect complement to the designer’s 70’s surfer vision.
Rich colors like terracotta, peach and chocolate brown were used. Westman created a natural tan look and successfully avoided an over-bronzed, Jersey shore appearance. “The look is about enhancing one’s own natural beauty,” said Westman. Revlon’s Powder Bronzer was used on the apples of the cheeks to create a more realistic look in addition to powder blush in Tawny Peach. Westman added freckles with an ashy brown eyebrow pencil to create an illusion that the girls had just gotten back from holiday. Light chocolate eyeliner (Revlon Sueded Brown) was used to line the bottom lashes along with Grow Luscious Mascara in Black.
Meanwhile, Redken’s lead hair stylist, Guido, created a techy-futuristic look still maintaining the hippy surfer girl goal. The girls wore elastic bands around their necks, which captured their long flowing hair and created a natural bobbed look from the front. Guido used Redken Satinwear 02 ultimate blow-dry lotion to create a smooth texture. The texture aided in a bed-head, flirty, layered look.
The subtlety of the makeup and hair succeeded in emulating the signature look of Rag & Bone: effortlessly sexy.
