Raise Your Glass To Sandy Relief at the NYC Craft Beer Festival: Enjoy Amazing Selections and Support A Supplies Drive for Those in Need
By Stef Schwalb
A new date, a new location and a new drive for doing good surrounds the NYC Craft Beer Festival – Winter Harvest Edition. The big event has been rescheduled – due to Hurricane Sandy – to Saturday December 1 and relocated to Basketball City @ Pier 36, 299 South Street. In addition to sampling some of the best winter craft beers around, the festival has also added a Sandy Relief Supplies Drive. Recognizing that so much of our region has a long road ahead in recovery, the event’s producers decided to use their expertise and resources to provide assistance for residents in the Breezy Point community of Queens with a list of items to donate found on the festival website.
Around 150 American Winter Craft Beers from 75 breweries will be present at the festival as well as a variety of snacks and foods designed to accompany the tasting sessions. During the festivities, leading Craft Beer experts will host intimate, 50-person seminars on a first-come, first-serve basis while brewer representatives will also be on hand at the taps to help educate attendees. Other highlights include a cheese and beer pairing seminar with Aaron Foster, Murray’s Cheese’s Craft Beer buyer, and a seminar on “10 Start-up Business Tips Anyone Can Use for Any Business,” led by Chris Gallant, Co-Founder & General Manager of Bronx Brewery. There will also be a special holiday themed beer pairing with Chef Stephen Durley and Beer Sommelier Hayley Jensen of Taproom No. 307 (who will be featured in our Wine & Spirits section in January) that will include beer-based recipes, such as Hefesweissen stuffing and Pumpkin ale pie, all paired with Craft Beer selections.
There are three price levels for tickets, including General Admission, VIP, and Connoisseur. Original purchases made for the November date are valid for the new December date and venue (session times also stay the same).
