Last week I found myself stuck in a rut. My frequent trips to the gym had slowed down and my healthy eating had come to a halt. To make things worse, I had a vacation coming up in a few days and I was not ready to proudly sport my itty bitty bikini. I started to panic. Like other vacations past, I knew my impending tropical vacation would include some sweet pina coladas and juicy burgers.

My usual approach to vacations was this: eat whatever you want and drink whatever you want. This mantra usually leaves me about 10lbs heavier after my trip. Instead, I decided to look at my vacation with a new perspective. This new outlook would be one of a healthy lifestyle. While away, I ate a ton of fresh fruits and veggies and drank sparkling water with a splash of juice for refreshment. I also went horseback riding and took the workout classes offered by the resort. The typical gluttonous vacations I was used to vanished and they were replaced by a much more revitalizing one. Not only do I feel better days after my trip, but my jeans still fit and I’m another step closer to my resolution. Without a pià±a colada in hand, who knew that a vacation could still be so sweet?
