Renowned for luxurious fabrics and a faultless attention to detail, FIT graduate Gustavo Arango returned to the New York runway on Saturday with a strong collection of formalwear, ranging from cocktail dress to evening gown. The show also spotlighted classic, glamorous hair and makeup looks courtesy of Aveda.
Tom Yroboth, European Creative Director for Aveda, referenced an old world influence on the hair, with waves and curls reminiscent of the 1920′s and 1940′s. Roots were backcombed to add texture and height.

Rudy Miles, Aveda Global Face Color Artist called the makeup look “very glamorous” and described the Gustavo Arango woman as “a woman who is comfortable with her own beauty, a woman who knows who she is.” A strong smoky eye, matte skin and a semi-matte lip were sexy but attainable even for those of us with slightly less confidence.

Overall, Arango’s Fall 2007 collection was youthful glamour at its best, with standout, red carpet ready gowns in beaded silk chiffon and silk charmeuse with lizard details. Sensual and opulent, yet never obsequious, this is clothing that women will simply love to wear.
