Jim Henson’s Fantastic World
If you want to wallow in nostalgia or introduce your children to the furry darlings of your youth, visit the Museum of the Moving Image this weekend and check out the exhibit Jim Henson’s Fantastic World. Featuring over 120 artifacts, including drawings, storyboards, and props, fifteen well-known muppets (including Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Rowlf and Bert and Ernie), art and films dating back to Henson’s college days, this is truly a showing that can be enjoyed by muppet fans of all ages.

7th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (BHF)
Hip-Hop fans can get their groove on this weekend at the 7th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. Headlined by Q-Tip, there are dozens of musicians, including Marley Marl, GrandWizzard Theodore Camp Lo, Homeboy Sandman, J-Live, Mista Sinista (X-ecutioners), DJ Boogie Blind, Eternia and Lords of the Underground.

Food Truck Rally
On the 3rd Sunday of every month, between now and October, foodies unite at Prospect Park to sample cuisines, running the gamut from seafood to pizza and cupcakes to ice cream. This Sunday’s trucks include: Bistro Truck, Coolhaus, Cupcake Stop, Joyride, Kelvin Natural Slush Co., Kimchi Taco, Mud Truck, The Red Hook Lobster Pound, Rickshaw Dumpling Truck, Souvlaki GR, Taà¯m Mobile, The Eddie’s Pizza Truck, The Treats Truck, and Vanleeuwen Ice Cream.

City of Water Day Festival
The Municipal Water Alliance presents City of Water Day on Governor’s Island. A free event, families are encouraged to take part in water sports like kayaking, canoeing and fishing, participate in games and arts and crafts, and enjoy music and food. The event run from 10 – 4 on Saturday, July 16.

This is awesome! I want to try a lot of this stuff, bc I am new to the city and am always looking for things to do. I just stumbled upon this cool website City Maps , that has been a lifesave helping me get around. Not only have I found my way places, but I have been able to read info and restaurants and bars that I really want to try. Anyone new to the city, or really just anyone should check it out.
