Friday night, Korean promotional company Soul Lounge hosted an event here in New York City at Club Pacha, to showcase some of the city’s young up-and-coming fashion designers and kick off Fashion Week Fall 2011.
The event was energetic and vibrant, complete with a runway show and dancing the night away. The top VIP floor of Club Pacha was used for the event, and the whole club was bouncing with energy. Soul Lounge is a new social media based promotional event company, and they now have an office in New York. The promotional company uses the increasingly more important field of social media to give their clients exposure in a more casual and effective way.
The fashion show at Friday’s event showcased four different young New York-based designers, including Simpleton, Sierra Le Squirrel, NY State of Mind, and Alexandra Taylor. Both Simpleton and NY State of Mind showed their lines of men and women’s t-shirts, which had great graphics and fit. Sierra Le Squirrel showed her collection of lingerie, which was very unique and innovative. The show also included ongoing footage displayed on screens throughout the venue of all the designers in their workspaces as well as showcasing the designers at work on their collections before the fashion show.
The final designer, Alexandra Taylor, graduated from New York’s prestigious Parsons School of Design last year and showed a beautiful 16-piece collection at the event. Her collection also included her line of five scarves, which were designed in collaboration with charity organization the Nothing But Nets campaign, and the proceeds from each scarf purchased give a mosquito net to a person or family in Africa to help prevent Malaria. The scarves can be purchased on Alexandra’s website, http://www.alexandrataylor.net. After the runway presentation, the bottles were popping and the dance floor was full, making it a huge success.
