Shearwater Sailings
It’s virtually impossible to research a sailing trip in NYC and not be inundated with ads of double-decker buses and cheesy harbor tours. Since the idea of what was virtually a Carnival Cruise ship that doesn’t make it past the Statue of Liberty, didn’t appeal much to me, I dug a little deeper and found Shearwater Sailing. The Shearwater crew maintains a 1920′s yacht and offers both private and public tours that leave from Battery Park City. The boat is intimate and the crew is laid back and fun. You can bring your own picnic and for an extra $20, unlimited beer and wine is available. You’re left to enjoy the uncompromising views and your company. Shearwater even offers fall foliage tours and provides cozy blankets to keep you warm on the brisk fall days. Ahoy, matey! |
