There are baked goods and then there are Momofuku Milk Bar baked goods. One of these things (hint, it’s the latter) is not like any other. When pretzels, potato chips, coffee, oats, butterscotch and chocolate chips are in the same cookie, what do you get? A one-of-a-kind ride for your taste buds. It’s an experience chef and owner Christina Tosi aims to elicit from every customer.

And Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker is celebrating this brand of ingenuity with their Chocolate Adventure Contest 2012: Sandwich Cookie Edition.

The challenge? Create an original sandwich cookie recipe using one or more Scharffen Berger chocolate products and at least one of twelve hand-picked adventure ingredients — corn meal, chili pepper, cacao nibs, pine nuts and tequila to name a few — for a chance to win $25,000.

Lucky for you, Milk Bar’s first cookbook came to market last year, so you can use Tosi’s innovative concoctions as a place to start practicing your extreme baking. Her once-secret recipes are now yours for the trying, tweaking and personalizing.

The Milk Bar maven is even on board to inspire you with some original sandwich cookie entries of her own. Her two (to die for) samples include a Banana Cacao Nib Pine Nut Cookie with chocolate and pine nut filling and Chocolate-Chocolate Cookies with coconut filling. Don’t fear, these are examples only — they are not in the running to steal your grand prize money.
