In case you missed the Black Friday madness or haven’t stepped foot outside your door, holiday music blaring from the speakers of every retail store across the country has once again marked the beginning of the holiday season.
With the music playing and the countdown to the big day starting today, why not celebrate the season with a trip to the historical event of the Tree Lighting in Rockefeller Plaza. With performances by the Rockettes and ice skaters in the Rockefeller ice rink, the event is sure to move you into the holiday spirit.
This year’s tree will be topped off with a 550lb Swarovski encrusted star. Celebrities including Ellen Degeneres, Jennifer Garner and Dita Von Teese have created ornaments for Swarovski as part of their Annual Edition of Holiday Ornaments. The company will be donating $250,000 from the sales of the ornaments to Clothes Off Our Back to benefit children’s charities worldwide through charity auctions.
If you don’t want to splurge on fancy ornaments, check out the tree, admission is free and it’s really a great holiday tradition.
What: Christmas tree Lighting
Where: Rockefeller Center (47-50th Streets Between 5th & 7th Avenues)
When: December 3rd from 7-9 p.m.
