Sirio Maccioni, the legendary restaurateur of the iconic Le Cirque restaurant has opened an eponymous venue at the choice corner of Fifth Avenue inside The Pierre Hotel. It is the sister restaurant to Sirio Ristorante at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Recently, an exclusive preview was offered to the press by the Maccioni family. The event featured dishes by Chef Filippo Gozzoli, the new Michelin rated chef who will lead the kitchen.

Sirio’s menu includes contemporary and seasonal Italian cuisine inspired by Tuscany. Chef Gozzoli, formerly an executive chef at distinguished eateries in Milan and Rome, is an accredited MasterChef of ALMA, the culinary school in Colorno, Italy, the teaching international training center for Italian Cuisine. He studied with Chef Gualtiero Marchesi, Italy’s first Chef to receive three Michelin Stars and considered to be the founder of modern Italian Cuisine.

Gozzoli is known for composing delightful modern menus in artful presentation. He never preps dishes in advance, but prefers to cook everything as it is ordered so as to respect the freshness of the ingredients while optimizing their flavor. Signature dishes will include Risotto alla Pizzaiola (Risotto made with five different Tomato Varietals topped with fresh Burrata and Pantelleria Capers) and Stinco di Agnello Glassato Spugnole e Carciofi (Glazed Shank of Colorado Lamb with Morels and Artichokes). An array of signature Italian desserts that include Quadrato di Cioccolato e Nocciole Piemontesi (Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch Mousse with Salted Hazelnuts and Ravioli Dolci (Orange and Saffron Ravioli with White Chocolate Mousse accompanied by Fresh Banana and Mandarin Orange Sorbet), will certainly melt many mouths. Sirio is also endowed with a selection of 250 wines in its cave including unique private label red and white wines produced in the Maremma Area in Tuscany.

Well-known designer Adam D Tihany created a space inspired by the high style esthetic of 1960’s Italy. It evokes the elegance of Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita with its limestone facades characteristic of Italian interiors and wood furnishings. All of Sirio Maccioni’s establishments have a reputation for convivial hospitality and chicness. This new fine eatery promises to garner plenty of fans among New York’s polished society, fashion luminaries and distinguished travelers.

“Sirio Ristorante is my chance to offer diners an opportunity to experience the cuisine that my family and I enjoy while dining throughout Italy,” said Sirio Maccioni. ” This new culinary venture promises to live up to the reputation of its sister establishments in the Maccioni Group of restaurants.”
