While you’re dressing that turkey this Thanksgiving, don’t forget to look presentable yourself. Yes, you can still be a fashionista on Thanksgiving with the proper planning. Here are some tips to help you get through the day in style, whether you are slaving over a steamy oven or just showing up to stuff your face.
Dress for the heat
It may be 30 degrees outside but it’s certain to be toasty at most Thanksgiving dinners. Ditch the long sleeves in favor of a classic short-sleeved cotton t-shirt or a tunic and leggings. Try out the new Lindsay Lohan 6126 leggings at Henri Bendel or online at www.shopintuition.com. The animal print or black with side zippers are comfy but tres chic.
Prepare for mess
Aprons are a necessary evil if you are making dinner, but they don’t have to be dowdy. I was really shocked at how far aprons have come. Check out www.kitschnglam.com and www.ananasdesigns.com for some really edgy aprons. My personal favorites are the faux mink style (just for show) and the wrap around apron halter dresses. Imagine greeting guests in your apron halter dress after spending all day slaving over a hot oven, without ever changing.
Wear loose clothing
Alas, jeans are out on Thanksgiving, unless you want feel like a stuffed sausage after eating. Instead, guests should look for a sexy velour sweat suit and tank top, while the domestic diva could wear a flowing maxi dress in washable fabric. Pair these with ballet flats for guests, or sandals for the hostess, and you’re good to go.
