City Pulse

You have three days left before Valentine’s Day! Have you gotten your gift yet? Here’s a gift that I’d like to bestow to many men in Manhattan; the name of a good tailor. Why am I saying this? Today I noticed an overabundance of men who were suffering from V.B.P. (very bad pants), T.W.S. (too wide shoulders) or both. Someone needs to grab these men, bonk them over the head with a soft implement repeatedly until they learn that pants need hems. You are supposed to have a “break” at the end of a pant leg, not a puddle. And what is with the over wide shoulders on blazers? The worst public example of this is Bernard Kerik’s blazers. The shoulders on his jackets are wider than the rest of him. The shoulder seam of a blazer or jacket if you will, should match to your natural shoulder. If it doesn’t, the jacket is too big.

If you’re guilty of these fashion faux pas, and wonder why you can’t get a date, no woman in her right mind wants to go out with someone who looks like he’s wearing Herman Munster’s cast-offs. I don’t care if I sound superficial; if a guy can’t be bothered to hem his pants, I can’t help but wonder what else he can’t be bothered to do for himself or another person.

And I’m seeing this during one of the holiest times if the year, Fashion Week! It’s enough to make a fashionista weep.

Speaking of fashion, not only was fall fashion unveiled under the tents, so was a commode. Not just any commode, Kohler’s Purist Hatbox Seat.

It really is ground-breaking in design. The Purist utilizes a very quiet .2 horsepower electric pump that’s enclosed within the toilet bowl. Powerful flushing is provided by 1.6 gallons of water. While the Purist Hat Box looks stream-lined, it was designed using ergonomics and complies with the height requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Purist Hat Box has Kohler’s own “Comfort Height” comfortable chair height seating that works with a variety of ages and statures. And the seat was designed with “Quiet Close.” The “QC” prevents seat slams, and as the brochure says, “eliminates unnecessary contact with the underside of the seat.” Women instinctually understand that one. I mean, who hasn’t fallen in at one time or another?

If you’re renovating your abode, or building from the ground up, do take a look at this sleek, sexy commode. It comes in white, biscuit, ice grey, almond, sand bar, and thunder grey. To find out more about the seat, please go to http://www.kohler.com/hatbox or call Kohler at 1-800-4-KOHLER.
