We’d rather have chocolate in a heart-shaped box than no chocolate at all. But if you’re looking to win extra cool points this Valentine’s Day, maybe it’s a good idea to stay away from the mainstream sweets. We searched high and low, consulted with our sugar experts and dabbled in some hipsterism to bring you some of the most unique treats to gift this Vday.

Lake Champlain’s “Kiss Me Frog” is made of delicious Belgian milk chocolate with dark chocolate accents. Standing on a white chocolate lily pad with his arms crossed waiting for the spell to be broken, he’s an adorable 3.5 inches tall and hails from Vermont. We’re pretty sure he doesn’t have a British accent but hey, at $12.50 who’s complaining?


If you’re part of the two peas in a pod club, celebrate that rare togetherness with Jacques Torres’ “I Love You Puzzle” ($11). There are only four pieces to this one so don’t worry about spending the entire night trying to put it together.

If puzzles are too tame for your world, spice things up with their “Spanker” chocolate lollipops ($14). “Love” is written in chocolate cursive on one side; “Spank Me”, in print on the other. Both are available in milk, dark and white chocolate options.


We heard through the grapevine that Isabella’s Cookie Company was all the rage on the west coast and we’re co-signing. Their homemade baked goods don’t contain any artificial ingredients or preservatives so you can’t keep them around forever but there are over 27 delicious reasons why we’re sure that won’t be a problem.

Their “Shortcake” cookie, perfect for strawberry enthusiasts, is covered in creamy white chocolate chips and chocolate – covered strawberries. The “Sugar Rush”, ideal for the classic love, is doused in creamy vanilla frosting and dusted with sweet sprinkles. Layered with chocolate frosting and pink sprinkles, Isabella’s heart-shaped “Chocolate Sugar Rush” cookies ($6.50), are made exclusively for V-day but feel free to customize any flavor you want!


So there you have it – three unique treats that’ll keep this year’s main squeeze around for next year’s Valentine’s Day. We sincerely hope it’s your best one yet and if you show up with a bag filled with all of the aforementioned stuff, it will be – for sure.
