This week The Body Shop™ at Grand Central Station hosted a Winter trend makeup event with celebrity makeup artist Chase Aston. He had flown in from the U.K. to demonstrate the latest look and application techniques New York social mavens will want to know about to compliment their fab outfits for the upcoming holiday revelries.
Chase is a well-known international makeup guru who’s worked his magic on many big name beautiful faces, such as top models Kate Moss and Claudia Schiffer and famous entertainers like Cameron Diaz and Britney Spears. He has also been the stylist for loads of Cosmo, Vogue and Elle magazine covers and editorials. You can imagine how excited I was to see Chase work as well as preview The Body Shop’s holiday products!
So here’s the inside makeup scoop for our gorgeous catwalking Beauty News NYC readers:
The Body Shop’s new Winter Trend Makeup Collection combines sexy shimmer, sophisticated glitter and a touch of festive magic to create a look that’s pure glamour. This is makeup that’s made to party.
• Skin glistens with tiny sparkles.
This season’s lust-have, the special edition Sparkler is a boudoir-style bottle full of subtle iridescent sparkle-dust. Its elegant atomizer ingeniously delivers a completely even veil of sparkle to the skin, while the clever combination of different-sized pearls and glitters create a sophisticated multi-dimensional shimmer. Point the nozzle anywhere on the face or body to release a burst of pearls and glitter to sparkle from head to toe.
Chase Aston top tip: For an ultra-precise application, lightly spray the Sparkler onto a powder puff, then press along the cheekbones to highlight. Lightly spray over the face, décolletage, shoulders and neck for a flirty, sensual shimmer effect.
• Eyes are dressed in feminine pinks, golds and silver.
The new special edition Eye Palettes are great for creating smoldering party eyes. 01 Twilight and 02 Midnight each contain four pressed powder eye colors plus a shimmering highlighter that can be applied to eyes, cheekbones and brow bones. 01 Twilight features violet sky, lilac mist, pink champagne, damson velvet and a highlighter in Pearl. 02 Midnight features silver moon, bronze blaze, pink light, starry night, and a highlighter in Lunar.
Chase Aston top tips: To adapt the color palette into a succulent shimmering pearl effect, first smooth the pearl highlighter all over eyelid, then apply eye colors as normal.
Smooth and blend the Lunar highlighter along the brow bone, under the arch of the brow and onto the inner corners of the eyes to widen and brighten the sensual Winter smoky eye.
• More star dust and glitter, oh my.
Stardust isn’t just for fairies. Give your party look a touch of glam glitter with a Stardust Glitter Pot. Choose from feminine pink or glamorous gold particles and gently apply to face and body with The Body Shop Eye Shadow Brush or fingertips to sparkle the night away.
Chase Aston top tip: Sweep an eye shadow brush across the cream highlighter from the Eye Palettes, dip into a Stardust Glitter Pot, then smooth onto the inner corners of eyes for a dramatic eye-effect.
• Glossy lips are shot with iridescence.
Complete this Winter’s sparkling look with glossy lips that glitter and glisten. The Winter Trend Collection offers one luscious shade of Love Gloss lip gloss, 10 Twinkling Pink, a special edition pretty pink with an iridescent shimmer.
Chase Aston top tip: Smooth Love Gloss over a bare lip for a sheer barely there wash of color, or layer over Lip & Cheek Stain or your favorite Colourglide™ Lip Color shade for fabulous party lip looks.
The fashion-forward Body Shop Winter Trend Collection is available now through the holiday season and in January 2011 while supplies last. Shop for these products at your local The Body Shop retailer and online at http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com.
We’re all set to party thanks to Chase Aston and The Body Shop. Drink responsibly, be merry and stay dazzlingly beautiful. Oh yes, and nail color should be glittery.
