Fashion & Accessories

By Alexandra Taylor

During the brisk days of fall and winter, we find ourselves bundled up in trenches, wool pea coats, and chunky knits. With all these layers, one way to standout among the sea of drab cold weather-wear is to choose the right accessories. From a work savvy python or leather tote in an accented hue, a great printed knit scarf, or a fabulous pair of shearling booties, the perfect accessory is in arm’s reach this season. You just need to know where to start.

This season, boots in all heights and styles are flooding the stores as top sellers once again. Don’t be afraid to try something new this season, bypass the quintessential riding boot and try a pair of ankle boots with accented chain or grommet detailing or a fun pair of military inspired lace up boots.

These Alexander Wang combat inspired ankle boots in a gray textured leather are chic and fun with laces and straps, creating a faux sandal look. With a 5-inch heel, you will be sure to stand out and above the crowd.

From totes to clutches and all the other bags in between, it is quite easy these days to find a great bag for day or night. A great bag to carry this fall is a work to evening box bag both stylish and practical with enough room to bring along the essentials without taking up too much room or weighing you down. A top handle tote, messenger, or satchel is the perfect fashion find to accentuate your wardrobe.

The Marc by Marc Jacobs top handle box bag can transform your look from day to night with its detachable shoulder strap and double top handles. The box bag with textured patent leather with suede trim and neon accented hardware can be worn across the body, as a shoulder bag, or carried as a handbag.

The best piece to pair with your winter coat is a printed or chunky knit scarf to add some needed texture or color. Produced in everything from cashmere, merino wool, silk, and even fur, scarves are the must-have accessories to spruce up your look. Try a pop of color with a leopard print from YSL or skull prints from Alexander McQueen. A multicolored and textured machine knit scarf from Missoni will keep you warm and accent your winter ensembles perfectly. For winter knits, the chunkier seems to be the better or more stylish this season, which will definitely keep you cozy and bundled up on the cold New York streets this winter.
