Fashion & Accessories

If you ignore the heat waves paired with your disgustingly high air conditioning bill – summertime in NYC is almost magical. Among picnics in Central Park, farmers market shopping at Union Square and all the benefits of drinking outside – you’ve got yourself a damn fine time. And what better way to celebrate our arguably most fun season than with personal style? The following ladies have been kind enough to share a bit of their wardrobe that not only keeps them cool but the heads turning.

These two ladies have achieved a different look but still maintain a similar aesthetic. The girl on the left has paired vibrant skinny jeans with a lacy top and Chanel quilted purse to anchor an of-the-moment look with a classic statement. The girl on the right has also paired current trends such as the blogger top knot and a cut-out sundress with timeless Jackie-O-esque sunglasses. It’s always important to balance a trendy outfit with something indisputably elegant so ten years down the road you don’t look at photos of yourself and go, “what the hell was I thinking?”

Keenan and Kel may have moved on to bigger and better things, but some nineties staples like high-waisted jorts and crop tops are back with a vengeance. This girl has balanced out what could have been street-walker style with a classic cardigan and a needlepoint purse her Grandmother would approve of. The mixing and matching suits her well and the natural makeup helps tone done the stomach-baring look.

Unless you’ve been living under a J. Crew-less rock, you’ve probably noticed that Ikat prints are here to stay. This girl has accented her form fitting, crewneck dress with simple jewelry and neutral sandals to prevent the print from clashing with sartorial accents. There truly is an art to knowing when to stop accessorizing, and I firmly believe in the “less is more” category to prevent a walking fashion train wreck.
