Wine & Spirits

By Stef Schwalb

We’ve checked out some great tools of the trade as of late, and we thought why not share the wealth (of knowledge) by passing some cool product info your way. So here’s to the start of a new column in the section dedicated to just that. Our fab four for this month include an affordable wine aeration set, an awesome insulated beverage dispenser, some sleek sipping stones, and helpful a little lemon squeezer.

Want to let your fave wine open up and breathe on the fast track? Check out the tag VIVA Scandinavia Wine Aeration Set. We ran a taste test in-house using one of our fave reds with one glass filtered through the set and one without – and we definitely experienced the difference. The best part? It’s super easy and economical. This stylish set features the decanter with a black silicone top that pours drip-free and a silicone, stainless stopper for wine storage (if you happen to have any left) and the wine aerator funnel that’s made of heat-resistant, borosilicate glass and is dishwasher safe. You can purchase the set, or the decanter or wine aerator separately. For more info, visit http://www.tag2u.com.

Like making massive doses of margaritas or sangria? We sure do, especially as we prepare for the impending holiday season. That’s where the Buddeez Unbreakable Tritan®3.5 Gallon Beverage Dispenser with Ice Cone™ comes in handy. This product features double-wall insulation and a no-drip faucet. The result? Drinks stay colder inside, there’s a lot less condensation outside, plus less mess. We used it for green tea this summer and being the slightly clumsy folks we are, we were also very glad for the non-slip, lock-on base that makes Buddeez® simple to lift and move about. Plus, it’s easy to refill ice or your beverage without having to disassemble everything and it has graduated liquid measure marks to ensure accurate mixing or filling. Whisky lovers rejoice! If you don’t like your spirit being weighed down by water, but you do like it on the rocks, Sipping Stones is all you need. This awesome alternative to ice features nine finely crafted, 100 percent soapstone cubes that come with a muslin carrying patch. They work well in chilling any spirit for about thirty minutes, without imparting any flavor or taste into your drink. They are also Generally Regarded As Safe (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Sipping Stones come in white or grey. For more info, check out http://www.sippingstones.com.

And last but certainly not least, we have our newest BFF – Fabrikators’ LemonFriend®. We’re mad for lemons and limes in our cocktails over here (and in just about everything else). What we don’t dig? Getting juice squirted in our eyes or seeds falling all over everything, and this product prevents that (we tried it with oranges as well!). Made and designed in Denmark, the patent-pending LemonFriend® is a lemon squeezer that was developed to minimize seeds from slipping into drinks and food. Just slice up your citrus, insert into LemonFriend®, and get squeezing. The product comes in a convenient a 4-pack. For more info, visit http://fabrikators.com/en/lemon-friend.html.
