Since scent is our biggest memory factor, why not give her a beautiful perfume and create some great memories? Here are some outstanding options sure to delight her.

Famed American designer Norman Norell said: “if you’re going to go out at night, for heaven’s sake, wear something that explodes and goes pow”

For the sensual woman, the Norell Elixir will knock her stockings off. Perfumer Celine Barel took Mr. Norell’s words to heart and created a floriental woody perfume that really goes Pow! It’s warm and intense, and though it doesn’t scream, it’s not for shrinking violets. It’s housed in a very elegant bottle and opens with luscious mandarin and plum, but don’t think you’re on the road to juicy sweetness, as right along with it is a jolt – a good jolt – of pink peppercorn to make sure it doesn’t do anything too fruity. The heart notes arrive with a burst of sexy tuberose, which gives it that “hold on to your hat” power. But it’s a dark and sensuous tuberose and not at all like Fracas. A dash of jasmine and pimento berry is added to the heart to round things out. The spicy elixir finishes off with bold base notes of benzoin, patchouli and sandalwood. This is a perfume for a woman, not a girl; however it’s not old or matronly. It’s got a strong sillage, and has the “pow” factor. Mr. Norell would approve.

Since Norman Norell was so well known for his sequined dresses, it’s only fitting that the holiday gift is an elegant bronzy brown sequined clutch bag, a lipstick, and a 3.4 oz bottle of Norell Elixir.

Price $150. Available: In store Bergdorf Goodman, and online at Bergdorf Goodman

Charlotte Tilbury, the celebrity makeup artist who’s taken the makeup world by storm with her “gotta have it all” makeup collection has come out with a bold, stormy, sexy perfume. Her Scent of a Dream is a chypre floral, created by perfumer Francois Robert. The beautiful bottle evokes old style glam and will look so pretty sitting atop any dressing table. The fragrance opens with lemon, peach, bergamot, saffron and black pepper and goes to a floral heart of violet, jasmine, frankincense, and tuberose and base notes of ambroxan, Iso E Super, patchouli and fire tree. The fragrance is sexy, peppery and audacious like the effervescent Charlotte herself, and she designed it to attract power, positivity, sex and light to the wearer. She’s even created a unique method of application, which is to spray it in a sideways figure 8 motion to create a halo to step into.

Price: 1 oz $75, 1.7 oz $100, and 3.4 oz $130

Available: Nordstrom.

“They” say…whoever “they” are, that we first buy perfume with our eyes. Admit it, it’s true. Like the covers of books we’re drawn to in a bookstore, those pretty bottles sure pique our interest. Mon Paris by Yves Saint Laurent Beaute will grab your eyes across a store filled with perfume bottles. That pretty-in-pink liquid housed in a simple, but sculpturally beautiful bottle, tied up with a sexy black satin bow, almost dares you to resist going in for a sniff and a spritz. Why resist? Mon Paris is created by perfumers Harry Fremont, Olivier Cresp and Dora Baghriche-Arnaud and is for the lover of super feminine fragrances. If she likes YSL’s Black Opium, she’ll adore Mon Paris. The opening notes are sweet and fruity with juicy raspberry, strawberry, pear and bergamot. The heart notes are a bouquet of white datura flower, peony, orange blossom and sambac jasmine. Those then meld into a base of creamy white musk, ambroxan, and two types of patchouli, which are quite faint but warms it up. It’s the perfect gift for the woman who makes your life sweet.

Price: 1 oz $70, 1.6 oz $90, 3.4 oz $122.

Available: Macys.

Midnight Rain by La Prairie is not a new fragrance; and although not as well known as the brand’s coveted skin care, it’s a lovely gift for your luxury lover or for the woman who wants to wear something more exclusive. La Prairie says that Midnight Rain is “for those who don’t waste their night sleeping” and that notion is easily understood when the fragrance is experienced. Opening notes are sweeter than expected from the look of the black sparkly bottle, there’s mandarin, pomegranate and guava mixed with a touch of soft freesia. The heart notes are white lily, plum flower, vanilla orchid and amber flower. But don’t think this all about flowers, the base notes of patchouli, vetyver, cashmere woods and musk are really what makes this fragrance feel like one to wear when you’re not planning on going to bed until the sun rises.

Price: 1.7 oz $135.

Available: Nordstrom

A bright departure from sultry and sexy, we have the delightful, lighthearted Miu Miu created by perfumer Danielle Roche Andrier. It’s Prada’s little sister, and both the Miu Miu fashion line as well as fragrance, is intended to capture a more playful spirit. The star of this white floral perfume is lily of the valley, and Miu Miu opens up with a sparkling bright burst of it along with jasmine and rose and a new form of patchouli. This new patchouli, called akigalawood, formulated by the perfume house Givaudan creates a scent of not only patchouli but also a sprinkle of pepper and oud notes. So from the fresh floral opening it settles into a nice warm wood, though stays feminine even through the base notes. The bottle is modern and irresistible and one she’ll want to pick up and hold immediately. The opaque blue bottle is an obvious reference to the matelasse texture used in some Miu Miu handbags, and the bright red disk topper has a 50’s vintage vibe. If she’s one of the “cool girls”, this is a great choice.

Price: I oz $68, 1.7 oz $90, 3.4 oz $118.

Available: Sephora (get a free Miu Miu clutch with online purchase)

Recently, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show took place to showcase their latest designs. And for the first time ever, the VS Angels strutted their big wings and tiny crystal embellished thongs at the Grand Palais in Paris. So, it’s only fitting that their latest fragrance be called Paris as an ode to the beautiful city of light. Just freshly put on the shelves in time for this year’s gift giving, it’s a sure bet for your angel. This new fragrance, created by Givaudan perfumes, is inspired by the winter green gardens that surround the Eiffel Tower, and is a lovely crisp, evergreen mélange of night blooming jasmine, oak moss and cypress. The faceted bottle sparkles like the Eiffel Tower at night and looks so festive wrapped with its sexy red satin bow.

Price: 1 7 oz $58, 3.4 oz $78. Free body lotion with purchase for a limited time, so hurry!

Available: Victoria’s Secret.
