Fragrance

By Kim Taylor

As joyous as weddings are, the days leading up to them can sometimes be stressful. Every little thing you do to de-stress is helpful as you approach the grand day, and fragrance can play a calming role. Here are some fragrant products to comfort and soothe.

Decleor Paris offers an elixir of nearly indescribable delight: Aromaessence Neroli Comforting Concentrate. Made of 100% pure, natural essential oils formulated to penetrate and soothe the skin, this mixture imparts relaxation and is reminiscent of sharply bitter oranges intermingled with herbs. This contains essential oils of neroli, petit grain, sandalwood, juniper, sage, parsley seed and hazelnut. A few dabs will go a long way on your wedding day, and as you bend forward for a battalion of kisses, you’ll be breathtaking. Available at www.sephora.com, www.decleor.com, fine department stores and select spas.

Victor & Rolf’s intoxicating infusion of flowers in a body cream is a perfect accompaniment to a gorgeous wedding dress. This sumptuous body cream melds moisturizing ingredients with a plethora of flowers: Sambac jasmine, Catleya orchid, freesia and roses from sunny California. A hint of patchouli blossom grounds the fragrance and imparts warmth, so you’ll glow all the more as you glide down the aisle. Available at Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

The Fleurs AromaClear cool cleaning gel is rife with essential citrus oils and lavender water to fragrance your bath and shower and assist in retaining your skin’s freshness. Essential oils of lemon and grapefruit are naturally antiseptic and anti-bacterial, gently purify the skin, and it helps that they smell wonderful too. This is part of an extensive new line from France-based Fleurs that includes make-up and skin care as well. Check out the goods for your nuptial celebration at www.fleur-s.com, www.phytomerusa.com, or call 1-800-227-8051.

Another Parisian import of note is Lampe Berger, a home decorative fragrance diffuser founded in 1898 that utilizes the principle of catalytic combustion to clean, purify and fragrance the air. Think of your wedding guests in your home, inhaling Lampe Berger’s subtle and fragrant magic. Lampe Berger has 40 scents from which to choose, ranging from woods to florals and also including neutral air purifiers. Europe’s foremost designers design the artistic Lampes, offered in porcelain, crystal and fine art glass. A small stone on the top of the perfume-filled lampe is lit and allowed to burn for 2 minutes. Once the flame is extinguished, the heat stone draws in the old air and restores the room to clean and scented. Peruse the lampe selection at www.lampeberger.com.

Sonia Kashuk’s new solid powder perfume palette is noteworthy for a few reasons. The trio of powdered perfume dots are presented in a small silver case that slips easily into a tiny clutch or even a pocket, and is sturdy enough to feel like an enduring bauble. The adorable case alone is fantastic, but the powdered perfume itself is surprisingly endearing. The fact that the small perfume dots come in a trio of scents makes it easy to create your own custom blend and intermingle compatible scents. Choose from Citron and Pink mandarin, White Gardenia and Black Vetiver, and Ginseng Blossom and Tuberose. Spring and summer are ideal seasons for powdered fragrance, and custom blending adds leeway. Available at Target stores.
