Which scent to wear in September is always a little daunting for me. Those light summery citrus scents now feel kind of “yesterday”, but I’m not ready for the sultry or intense fragrances yet. What to wear? Select from amongst these brand new creations. One of them is a perfect blend for you!

Ever feel an addiction to a scent so much you keep sniffing your wrist? That’s how I feel about Back to Black: aphrodisiac by Kilian. It’s sexy, it’s complex, it’s heady…and my husband keeps leaning over to snuggle my neck. Love that! This rich scent can be worn by men or women, yet on women isn’t masculine. Unique opening notes of bergamot combine with nutmeg, cardamom, coriander and raspberry. Then, the honey takes over, rich like cognac. Some patchouli and vetiver intrigue, and finally, lasting notes of a soft tobacco. Created by perfumer Calice Becker, who also created Henessy’s Prelude to Love, amongst others, Back to Black: aphrodisiac will surely develop many loyal fans.

From his new Tom Ford Private Blend Musk Collection are four musk fragrances that take musk to new depths. Ford says “The intention was to build on the true beauty of musk, which is not at all heavy or dirty, but has a deep compelling softness. Inhaling pure musk is a bit like inhaling nude skin”. My favorite, White Suede, is intimate, and definitely has that something special; even the bottle is a departure from the usual Tom Ford dark glass and clearly shows off the lightness of the latest scent. Now to the juice – two accords, diametrically opposed. White Suede opens with Bulgarian rose, subtle musk and the teeniest traces of golden saffron and thyme for a touch of pungency. The heart of the fragrance is the sexy suede complimented by smokey tea as well as frankincense resin and finally lily of the valley “girlys” it up so it’s not heavy on the leather. Spritz and enjoy!

Feminine and floral is the best way to describe Muguet Blanc by Van Cleef and Arpels. This fresh green…but not too green… scent, created by perfumer Antoine Maisondieu has a joyous air about it. It’s a delicate and irresistible blend of lily-of-the-valley, exotic white peony, a touch of neroli, and soft white cedar. Wear it when you’re feeling flirty!

I’m one of those women who loves looking though my pretty lingerie drawer, and thinking about what lingerie to put on even before deciding what clothes to wear. You too? Fortunately, we’re not alone, and Stella McCartney is one of us!. To celebrate her love of feminine intimates, STELLANUDE was created as an extension of her lingerie line. Enjoy its opening notes of Moroccan Rose with a little grapefruit (wake-y, wake-y), which then blossoms into white peony. Finally some pink pepper spice, dry notes of vanilla and grey amber to last and last. It’s also available in a linen spray to make bedtime sweeter.
