Fragrance

By Allison O'Rourke

Oh March, that ambiguous little month that stands between us and the glorious season of spring. After months of dreary weather and biting cold, we’re all ready for a change of scenery, so if you can’t make a mad dash for warmer climates, then keep busy and check out these divine aromas at the top of my list for the month that celebrates both a saint and hoards of rowdy spring breakers.

Originally appointed as perfumers to royalty like Napoleon III and Queen Victoria of England, Roger & Gallet has released their 200th Anniversary edition of Jean Marie Farina eau de cologne. In honor of the founder, Jean Marie Farina, the new limited edition fragrance is a warm subtle blend of bergamot, lemon, and herbs like rosemary, myrtle, and thyme. Sweet, yet spicy the composition is rich, yet refreshing. Pulling out all the stops, the limited edition bottle is filled with 22 karat gold flakes to make you truly feel like royalty.

Available at Clydes Chemist, New York and Ron Robinson, Los Angeles.

Calvin Klein knows we cannot WAIT for spring to arrive, so behold– the new Euphoria Blossom fragrance! His latest incarnation is a fresh, modern floral with notes of orchid, pomegranate, lotus blossom, and pink peony. Mixing with white amber, musk, and blond wood, the scent embodies a real spring afternoon, full of sunshine and fields of wild flowers. A lighter version of the original Euphoria scent, this transports you to the quiet countryside in just one whiff. www.macys.com

The smell of English tea roses. Vignettes of the Cotswalds. A whiff of fresh Italian lemons. These are the notes and images that come to mind when I opened the bottles of Potter and Moore’s quintessentially English fragrances. The Eau de Toilette Collection comes in an embossed dark box with five delicious fragrances. From the romantic and zesty Lavender & Italian Lemon, foxy Spiced Tuberose & Orchid to the sultry Tea Rose & Sage notes give you more than plenty of excellent choices for each dress and mood. “Fragrance captivates natural bloom,” says the insert leaflet. How totally charming. www.potterandmoore.com.
