When it’s by Kilian, you can be sure it’s not just a fragrance collection – it’s a narrative. This time around, Perfumer Calice Becker takes us on an olfactive odyssey to the east side – the Far East side, that is – in the Asian Tales collection. The first two scents, Water Calligraphy and Bamboo Harmony, are perfectly timed for summer. Water Calligraphy pays homage to water, the essential element of calligraphy. The scent is “built with simplicity and spirituality, like its Art.” It is “the olfactive impression of an aquatic flower sitting next to a pond of water lilies,” leaving the impression of calm water slipping over a light veil of Cardamom and Vetiver “like Chinese ink slides over rice paper.” It’s a subtle whisper of a scent. Bamboo Harmony is slightly more pronounced, “the olfactive impression of a subtle sip of white tea taken in the heart of a bamboo.” Bits of lusciousness tease through fresh white tea notes, hinting at a hushed sensuality. Top notes include Bergamot, Bigarade and Neroli; the scent’s heart combines white tea leaves and Mimosa, touched with spices. Rare mate essence laced with oak moss and fig leaves rounds out this scent’s trail. Both perfumes are presented in dramatic by Kilian style; this time opera red-satin lines the black lacquered boxes; this red is said to symbolize courage, righteousness, and loyalty in the Chinese culture. Welcome to Flora by Gucci The Flora Garden Collection, particularly planted by Gucci in tribute to one of its most Iconic motifs: the Flora pattern designed for Grace Kelly. This garden offers a collection with a scent for every mood. Five eau de toilettes, each one inspired by one of the print’s blooms, make up the collection: Gorgeous Gardenia, a sweet meeting of gardenia petals with patchouli and brown sugar; Gracious Tuberose, on a refined base of white cedar wood and citrus; Glamorous Magnolia, a fusion of peony, magnolia, sandalwood, and musk, wrapped around a chocolate core; Generous Violet, a sophisticated, powdery melding of violet and orris, complemented by Gucci’s rich suede accord. Last but not least is the Glorious Mandarin, a juicy, joyful cocktail spiked with tropical rum and pineapple, and finished not with pineapple, but with creamy wood notes. Gorgeous Gardenia, Gracious Tuberose, and Glamorous Magnolia are available at Macy’s and online at; Generous Violet and Glorious Mandarin are exclusive to Gucci stores and selected flagships.

Londinium is the newest addition to Molton Brown‘s spirited Navigations Through Scent collection. Taking the world as its inspiration, the adventurous collection that has journeyed the continents now returns home to London, just in time to mark the historic 2012 celebrations. A warm, whisky note of malt accord stars as the lead ingredient in this woody, spicy unisex scent, which also blends peaty oakmoss and myrrh with refreshing top notes of wild juniper and bergamot. Eccentric, quirky, and fun, much like the smashing city of London itself. Packaged in a limited edition gold branded bottle, Londinium (51 50’N, O o9W) “echoes the brilliant juxtaposition of the busy metropolis” while celebrating a “city full of contradictions.” Brilliant, indeed! Available at Saks Fifth Avenue, Molton Brown Stores, and
