Mists, sprays, splashes, oh my! Now that the sizzling summertime is finally here in New York, no city gal wants to irritate her skin with any high-end perfume infused with alcohol and not much else. At the same time, no one wants to smell as if they’ve been stuck inside a stuffy subway for hours. Fortunately, that’s where seasonal scents come in. Body splashes are specifically made to be worn after a long bath or a quick shower to keep you feeling cool and smelling sweet. Unlike perfumes, body splashes are often made with moisturizing properties, such as aloe vera, to combat dryness from ACs, pools, beaches, you name it. Today, body splashes come in mists or sprays, which means you can easily use them as a quick pick-me-up, anytime. In time for the dog days of summer, some picks that will put heat right in its place.

Let’s face it, on sweltering summer days, we just want to feel clean and refreshed. After taking a relaxing shower, cool down with a spritz or two of Pure Fiji’s Hydrating Body Mist, which is guaranteed to hit the spot in all the right places. Its tropical scent of Coconut Infusion will make you feel as if you just bathed in a pool of creamy milk straight from the cracked fruit. Unlike other mists, which only smell like tropical treat, Pure Fiji Hydrating Body Mist features “exotic leaf extracts” carefully combined with coconut milk, raw honey, and royal jelly, to promote healthy skin. Not only will your body remain moisturized after hours of relaxing by the AC, but you’ll smell as if you just returned from a weekend getaway to the Fiji islands.

It’s a Saturday night and you’re either getting ready to live it up with the girlfriends or have a second date with a potential new beau. What to wear? That French eau de parfum may be too lethal for humid evenings, but you must smell divine for your escapade. Fortunately, there’s a body spritz that’s just right for the occasion. Philosophy’s Field of Flowers Perfumed Body Mist may resemble a luscious, decadent fragrance from Paris, but it’s actually a lightly scented spray that perfectly captures the scent of a blooming European garden. Not only does Field of Flowers last beyond champagne toasts and kisses, but it also contains moisturizing agents, like soothing aloe vera and vitamin C, to keep you feeling silky smooth. It’s hard to believe that Field of Flowers isn’t a rare and expensive perfume only sold to bombshells at ritzy boutiques. Shoppers will be thankful that it’s an affordable body spray that can be worn right after a cool bath, and before steamy late night sessions.

Beachy hair, sun kissed tans, and swimsuit-ready bods are all must-haves for summer, but a too clingy fragrance? Not so much. However, after hours of soaking up golden rays and hitting the waves, rocking the right scent for the day is in order and salt’s not one of them. Essence of Beauty Body Mist comes in a range of delicious aromas, but our favorite for the steamy season is the appropriately named Blue Ocean, a sparkling splash that can be worn anytime. Whether you’re seeking to freshen up after a trip to the beach or you just want to bring a little bit of your vacation home, Blue Ocean is a wonderful summer scent that’s sophisticated without being heavy. As a side bonus, Blue Ocean highlights aloe vera to hydrate thirsty skin. Best of all? Blue Ocean costs less than 10 bucks, so feel free to stock up for the season!
