I’ve been in search of an ideal set of supplementary fragrance products for some time now. You’re asking yourself…what is a supplementary fragrance product and why would I be in a frenzy to find one? Alors! mes enfants, Im going to tell you all about it.

Summertime is hot, sticky, humid, bare skin, and lots of activity… despite our current ‘chilly’ weather here in the Big Apple. So, lugging a bottle of perfume with you everywhere is just not practical. Plus, layering has always been the best way to have your signature scent follow you without overpowering everyone in your vicinity.

Enter Michael Kors. Forget his brilliant appearances on Project Runway and hold off on your comments about his newest collection. Let’s talk about this innovative designer’s approach to his fragrance line.

The white floral fragrance features a predominance of Indian Tuberose. Add to that notes of Apricot, Bergemont, Egyptian Jasmine and Orange Blossom. Then finish with Cashmere Woods, Dried Fig, and Haitian Vetiver, among other warm and sensual components, and you have an absolutely seductive signature scent.

Everyone knows about body lotions, creams, powders, shower gels, etc. They’re great! But how about products like Barefoot Beauty Cream, made specially to smooth onto hands and feet for sandal-ready softness plus a bit of the Michael Kors signature scent. Or the Liquid Loofah Body Polish to slough away dead skin cells.

This summer there is a limited release of the Shimmering Self-Tanner. It gives a delicious bronze effect that lasts about a week, and smells pretty nice, too. Then there’s the Shimmering Body Oil – a dry oil with golden flecks to give your entire body a delectable glow. Or how about a Glimmer Body Cream, with a touch of luxurious shimmering gold to highlight that gives your skin a sun-drenched effect?

My personal favorite, the Leg Shine, has proved to be quite a conversation piece. It is a solid shimmering stick that you can carry with you. Glide it down bare summer legs for a lightly scented sheen. I use it on my arms, decollate, back, shoulders. It also makes a great hand moisturizer and the scent really is so subtle. It seems that whenever I take it out in public to use on my hands, someone asks me about it and inevitably falls in love with it.

The fragrance market is full of body products that work well, smell great and are utterly predictable. This line offers a grown-up option to shimmer, innovative formulas to deliver their fragrance, and a scent to die for.

Available online at or at Neiman Marcus and other fine retail stores.
