It’s that time of year. I don’t want to sit at my desk and write, I want to gather up my BFFs and hit the newest hottest pina colada palace, maison de margarita or café de caipirinaha, and sip and schmooz all afternoon long. Well, that ain’t gonna happen…not more than once or twice a week anyway. I’ve got too much work, besides; I need to lose five pounds before next week anyway!

We all know that fragrance inspires memories, so enjoy these delicious scents and Saturday won’t feel so far away. Besides, they’re budget friendly; even less expensive than a couple of cocktails and no calories either!

Set a summer mood in your apartment with candles by Slatkin & Company, created by Harry Slatkin. These generously sized candles have three wicks and a super concentration of scent oil. I keep Island Margarita, a sweet blend of mandarin, iris, plum, tangelo and sandalwood, in the bedroom and Cool Tropical Breeze with its fruity blend of citrus, berry, rum and freesia in the kitchen because it’s also an odor eliminating candle, which is so perfect for when I’m grillin’ and chillin my spicy mango ahi. Cool tip: These candles give off a nice scent even without lighting the wick, so they’re also perfect around kids, rambunctious pets or in the office.

If you’re stuck on the island of Manhattan and would prefer a different kind of island ; one that smells of coconuts and sugarcane, rather than cement streets, spritz on some Island Escape from Victoria’s Secret. This sweet, summery fragrance will remind you of days at the tiki hut bar sipping frozen drinks adorned with little paper umbrellas, and that cute surfer boy you couldn’t stop flirting with!

Orange Sapphire eau de Toilette from Bath & Body Works will get you juiced for summer days of fun. Enjoy yummy citrusy notes of blood orange, black currant buds and peach, along with floral whiffs of white jasmine, magnolia, freesia and miguet. Throw in a bit of musk, light patchouli, amber, vanilla, honey and cognac and you’ve got a sexy, sassy fragrance going on! Orange-ya glad summer’s almost here?

Tight budget, but still need a little tropical escape? Suave Naturals Body Wash is a perfect way to start or end the day. Infused with Mango & Mandarin extracts, along with moisturizing vitamin E, this refreshing citrusy gel will keep your skin as soft as a summer breeze.
