Hair Care

By Patricia Wersinger

It’s really hard to find a hair styling product that does it all for ladies with thick, wavy, unpredictable ethnic hair. And when we say “all,” we mean quite a lot – our expectations are high. We want something that we can carry in our handbag or keep on our bathroom counter, something that moisturizes and repairs, smoothes and styles, tames and adds shine, and of course, cuts out any and all frizz. And we don’t want our purse or our counter to make us look like lunatic hair product hoarders – we want this all in one magic potion.

Thankfully, there are product lines that come around a few times a year that almost get there – and OPTIMUM’s Miracle Oil line is one of them.

Optimum Salon Haircare, recently launched its latest product, Optimum 6-in-1 Miracle Oil, a blend of six natural oils like Argan, Coconut, Jojoba, Sunflower, Apricot and Avocado. It can be used as a daily leave-in moisturizer or a hot-oil treatment and we find it versatile enough to even use on dry skin.

If you prefer a thicker, more creamy formula over an oily one to hydrate your curly mane or relax your do, the Optimum Miracle Oil Hair Moisturizer is a lightweight nourishing cream that does not leave any greasy build-up on your hands on your strands. It works for most hair types and can be applied to dry or wet hair.

If your hair is a serious dry case, the Optimum Hair Crême with Argan and Coconut Oil affords moisture too, again without much build up, creating a healthier, smooth and soft texture.

Together, these three products provide solutions to many of our biggest hair problems, and the part we like best is we don’t need all three – a little trial and error will help determine which is best and once you get there, you can stow it in any carry-all or on any sink counter for a quick fix. At only five to nine dollars a pop, and available at most drugstores, we don’t mind a little experimenting.

Tracee Ellis Ross, actress and former fashion editor for Mirabella and New York Magazine, swears by the product and has been appointed the brand’s ambassador. We can relate as the combination of Argan Oil and Coconut makes for a brilliant restorative combo on our over-processed beauty editor heads – paving the way to better days for us.
