Hair Care

By Kim Taylor

Tucked away in a serene part of the far west village near the Hudson River, the Lotus Salon would be a hidden gem if it weren’t already so acclaimed for delivering innovative cuts, expert color correction, and dazzling highlights. The vibe at this small, sun-filled neighborhood salon is thoroughly warm, welcoming and down to earth. It’s worth the trek, wherever you’re located – and the salon also has locations in Soho and Tribeca.

I have an alarming habit of occasionally snipping away at my hair, imagining that I’m creating my own unique style – which only works once in a blue moon, and the rest of the time I have to have these horrific hair creations fixed by a pro. So I entered Lotus Salon with some trepidation, expecting some eye rolls and a cloaked lecture. Instead, with no questions asked apart from the style and length I’d like, I received a phenomenal cut from Lily that was both professional and slightly edgy – just how I prefer it.

Lotus Salon uses natural Eufora hair products, which are not only gentle and nourishing for your hair, but to the environment as well. My hair felt like velvet as a result. Open seven days a week from 11am to 8pm, Lotus is undoubtedly a salon that you’ll end up visiting for years to come, because nothing else is quite the same.
