With all the damage we cause to our hair on a daily basis, restorative treatments are just as important as a regular trim. We caught up with Elaine Mitchell, creative director at Vidal Sassoon Salon on Fifth Avenue for the latest nourishing treatment from Kérastase.
Even if you only blow-dry, curl or straighten your hair occasionally, free radicals and pollution inevitably continue to damage hair. Kérastase is now offering a new Aqua-Oleum rinse-out treatment that is meant for dry and sensitized hair.
Made with jojoba and avocado oils, its effects are quickly, visibly apparent.
What’s better? This is only the beginning. According to Elaine, this is the first in a generation of long-lasting conditioners and offers seven times more nutrition than traditional treatments. The ultra-fine emulsion allows the conditioning ingredients to penetrate the hair instantly, therefore resulting in dramatically improved softness and texture.
This treatment not only restores moisture to hair but adds resistance to weakened hair that has been processed. Meanwhile, hair feels stronger, looks smoother and shiner and appears overall healthier even after a week of daily shampooing. Elaine recommends a comparable treatment every four to six weeks or when you go for your regular cut.
If you wish to apply Aqua-Oleum at home, shampoo and condition as usual, then apply the treatment to towel-dried hair section by section and massage into the whole length of hair. Leave on for three to five minutes and massage sections of the hair that receive the most damage; particularly the roots and ends. Rinse off and style as usual. The treatment is so gentle you can use it on a daily basis.
