Hair Care

By Candice Sabatini

Actress and teen fave Nina Dobrev attended the Teen Choice Awards with a hair style that’s great for many, no matter your age. As long as you’ve got the hair, go for this style. It’s easy peasy for a post-beach day and will look fantastic into the fall with a pair of jeans and boots. We got the ‘how to’ from hair stylist Riawna Capri, and no worry about perfection: this messy braid doesn’t need a professional touch to look fabulous.

Nina Dobrev at Teen Choice Awards

Capri started by blow drying Dobrev’s hair and added KMS California FreeShape Quick Blow Dry. Once her hair was dry she added KMS California FREESHAPE 2-in-1 styling and finishing spray to create texture. She then curled the hair in large vertical sections using a 1” curling iron – this’ll make for a nice messy, beachy wave. Next, Capri had Dobrev flip her head over as she sprayed KMS Hairplay Playable Texture to add even more texture.

With the hair prepped, it’s time to braid. Capri separated the hair into three sections, twisted them clockwise, and then braided them counterclockwise. This really shows off texture. Afterwards, the braid is spread out gently for a not-too-perfect look, and finally loose pieces were pulled out to frame Dobrev’s face. It was finished off with KMS California Medium Hold Hairspray.

So simple, so pretty, but not too precious. Have fun!
