Hair Care

By Irene Fogarty

I’m not the hairdresser type. I mean I don’t like the whole hair salon experience. I hate getting my hair cut, have never got highlights or any color for that matter, and don’t even own a hairdryer (it makes my face turn red). But last Friday, I discovered what women mean when they say that “new do, new woman” experience.

Let me make it very plain and simple for you. His name is Lucas, he’s the top coiffeur/colorist/stylist at Studio A Salon on 164 Mercer Street and he only uses exclusive Halo/Graham Webb products, which you can use at home to create amazing versatile styles that look they’ve been professionally done. Even, if you’re not “into” hair like me.

Using not one, but a combo of two of the best Graham Webb hair color products around, Lucas looked at my brunettey-auburnish shade and decided a “beachy” look could payoff my pale skin – just enough color to make strands look as if I had been to the beach and have natural highlights from the sun.

During the coloring process, Lucas told me about a new product that can give highlighted and colored hair the best shine. It’s Halo’s High Gloss Rinse by Graham Webb. Every week you can use this strengthening treatment between shampooing and conditioning, and it will not only illuminate your color, but maximize shine and luminosity.

I already tried it and cannot believe the shine from my hair. After shampooing and rinsing your hair, apply Halo to towel-dried strands and in less than five minutes, your hair will be glossier and silkier than ever before. You’ll see.

In addition, Halo carries a Root Lifting Spray to give your hair more volume without making it feel heavy or full of product. And if you can remember one more step, try the Bodifying Gel so you can hold on to your style a little longer. What I love about these products is that the formulas are not laden with pungent chemicals that feel like grunge in your hair, making you want to rinse them out asap. Instead, Halo products take it light and easy on your tresses.

After almost 4 hours of talking about everything from the “meaning of happiness” to “living in the now,” I hugged Lucas goodbye and walked out of the salon with a head of all-natural curls and the most natural-looking highlights. I was ready to go out on the town. Unfortunately, no one was around so instead I walked home from Soho feeling like a million dollars even though I had only a couple of bucks in my pocket for a regular slice and a seltzer water. Thanks Lucas. I’ll be seeing more of you and more highlights very soon.
