It’s the start of a new year, but I have chosen to put myself back at Milk Studios during September 2010 New York Fashion Week. I’m happy to reminisce and my hair’s looking fine. In this memory, elation and tresses equate thanks to a new discovery: Number 4™ High Performance Hair Care Products. I am introduced to this special line while covering the hair and makeup trends at Juan Carlos Obando’s show and little do I know but soon my hair routine will change for good.
The innovative Number 4 collection is the result of an inspiring collaboration between cutting-edge evening wear designer JC Obando and lead stylist Didier Malige, among other artistic souls in industries including fashion, science, art, music and industrial design. All products are vegan – never tested on animals.
I’m enjoying the memory of myself experiencing the same products used on the coifed manes of runway models but happen to also be tailored to my special hair issues. (Translation: stubbornly frizzy and a tad dry, even in cold months.)
As I’m having so much fun reminiscing, allow me to relive my wash and wear hair adventures in the months since being introduced to this glorious creation at NYFW:
First up is L’eau de Mer™ Hydrating Shampoo for serious moisturizing, color protection and replenishing gloss. Key ingredients are vitamin B5 properties for shine and conditioning; improving hair’s overall condition and strength, and silicon for softness, smoothness and super glassy shine. I lather the shampoo in my hands and massage into my wet locks. I wait a few minutes and then follow up with Lumiere d’hiver™ Reconstructing Masque because it is imperative that this lady condition, condition, condition or my hair will always rebel. A walking tumbleweed in pretty, tailored clothes is not a finished look I want to achieve, particularly among the graceful models surrounding me.
The Reconstructing Masque is a restorative treatment that infuses intense moisture and shine to the most thirsty of heads. A rich blend of soy proteins restores and strengthens, vitamin B5 and natural conditioners such as shea butter, jojoba seed oil, and sunflower seed oil nourish and condition, and silicon polymer detangles and tames. I apply the Masque evenly on my hair, from my wet ends up to scalp, wait five minutes before rinsing, and hope for good news.
It’s been a month now since I started using Number 4’s Hydrating Shampoo and Reconstructing Masque, and I can confidently report that I’ve had a welcome surprise: my hair is cooperating. It’s truly moisturized, and thus looks shiny and softer. I’m not battling tenacious frizz with lots of drugstore products, which end up weighing down my hair and making it look greasy quickly. My hair also has an alluring scent that lasts for two whole days; fragrance notes from the Hydrating Shampoo that include Ylang orchid, jasmine and patchouli. The Masque’s fragrance is a blend of white freesia, golden amber and warm musk.
Since my introduction to Number 4, I no longer need to fondly reminisce about that fateful day in September because my hair has been transformed…everyday. I am happily clean from any stylistic sin and can achieve a pret-a-porter glow from my tresses down to my Prada pumps (Hey, I have to at least try to hack it with the models, right?) On to February Fashion Week!
