Hair Care

By Kelly Hushin

Don’t you love-slash-hate how your hair always ends up looking great after a beach day spent between surf and sand? Love because it’s hot, hate because it never looks that hot otherwise! We always want that look recreated and there have been plenty of products to come on the market that help recreate it. Here are a few of our faves.

An old-standby and favorite is Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray, which leaves hair feeling a bit more grungy – but in a really good, sexy way. Its key ingredients include Macrocystis Pyrifera (Sea Kelp) extract for shine and Magnesium Sulfate for astringent. Check it out at bumbleandbumble.com.

What we especially love: The packaging. What can we say, we’re suckers for bottles that look good on our shelves AND do what they say they’re supposed to do.

Another similar product to add to the sporty, surfy, summer hair care roster is PRAVANA’s Beach Wave Control Mist which has jojoba and rosemary extract, keratin, wheat and silk amino acids to amp up curls and waves. A few sprays will leave hair looking soft and wavy, without the sticky wetness you may get from a few stray pieces of seaweed. Visit pravana.com to find locations.

What we especially love: The silky smoothness. Who doesn’t love hair that’s soft even when it looks mussed?

Natural sea salt and lavender combine in John Masters Organics Sea Mist Sea Salt Spray to give hair extra body and waves as if you’ve spent a day at the beach. Just spray onto clean hair after cleansing and conditioning to add curl and texture.

What we especially love: The smell. Delicious.
