Located in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District at 31 Little West 12th Street, Tela Salon is anything but a mundane meatpacking salon. I was greeted by all smiles as I walked into the chic and parlor-like shop; the atmosphere was light, friendly, airy and most importantly–stress-free.
Owner Philip Pelusi, well known for his chain of 13 salons in the greater Pittsburgh area, opened the Tela Salon less than a year ago.
At Tela, I was given the royal treatment with new texture – ultra soft, and new color – blonde.
I received a full-head of honey blonde highlights from color director, Robbie Contreras, the delightful and friendly colorist worked his magic on my locks while I sipped sangria that is served to salon clients every Thursday – ole!.
The salon not only offers hair cuts and color treatments. They’re masters at hair extensions, and straighteners, makeup application, manicures, pedicures and something new and interesting that definitely piqued my interest – an exclusive collection of hair and scalp nurturing Organic Conditioning Treatments.
These treatments are packed with ingredients such as balm mint, honey, mango fruit, papaya, sage and sugar cane to rejuvenate, re-hydrate, revive and restore hair. I had the pleasure of testing an organic “Restore” treatment that is made to extend the life of normal hair, in addition to treating the scalp and mending split ends using honey, cassia and angustifolia. The heavenly scent of these fragrant botanicals wafted around the room – stimulating the senses. I was excited to learn that the salon will soon sell its own line of organic products, for at home use, because I think I’m addicted!
Tela is an oasis for completely natural, organic beauty care and provides an experience that cultivates, nourishes, and revives – your hair, and your mind.
