Sure, we’ve all got our favorite stars. But that does not mean that they’re infallible. At the February 25 Oscar ceremony, some made us proud while others…well, not so much.
Let’s take a look the good and the bad that hit the famous red carpet on Oscar night. So, let’s start with the good news first.
As this season’s hair is all about natural – often wavy – beauty, I’ve selected the most ‘doable’ styles for the top of the list.
Two of the best happen to be in the same shot here, Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow representing the wavy and the straight hair fronts. Both women are sporting the long, loose, side part look.
Many other stars choose to go with soft, feminine curls, like Cate Blanchett, who wore upswept, neatly tucked curls. On the flip side, Rachel Weisz pulled off the perfect wavy-haired up-do.
One of the best straight styles at of the night was actually seen on Helen Mirren who looked beautiful and age appropriate.
And I’d like to give the best effort award to Maggie Gyllenhaal who tried to spruce up her do, as shown. I applaud the idea, but the piece was too close to her hair color and ended up looking like messy hair!
Speaking of messes, I didn’t care for Portia de Rossi’s long, messy ponytail. It appeared too fried and accidental, rather than sleek and well-curled.
Kirsten Dunst’s outfit was a bit of a mystery, and her hair was set to match. This style, which wouldn’t look half-bad on any other day, was too casual for the awards. See her roots, et al.
Finally, call me crazy, but I’m not a fan of Jennifer Lopez’s skyscraping-hair. This takes volume and curl to new, heavenly heights. Longer, sleeker curls are really looking more appropriate these days.
