Many of Hollywood’s A-list celebs, both young and old, trust their hair to acclaimed colorist Tracey Cunningham. From young trendsetters like Lindsay Lohan, and Nicole Richie to Oscar-award winning actresses like Julia Roberts and Hillary Swank, Cunningham has proved time and time again that she knows color. Cunningham started her career at Art Luna in L.A. and chose to specialize in color because it was something that came to her naturally. She believes “the color of a woman’s hair is a defining characteristic of her physical appearance.” We caught up with Tracey to find out what 2008 has in store for the defining characteristics of your color.
Cunningham believes solid rich tones will be in high demand. “For Spring 2008 we’re making a transition from highlights and focusing on more rich, classic hair colors,” said Cunningham. “Clients such as Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Amanda Peet are requesting deep reds, sophisticated browns and authentic warm blonde shades this spring.” Tracey also believes color should always look natural. She often gets requests from clients who want hair like Jennifer Lopez – warm, vibrant and natural color that is both classy and trendy.
Healthy hair is a staple regardless no matter what year or season. Cunningham suggests women get glosses in between coloring in order to enhance shine. She also recommends a Redken Chemistry System treatment between color services for noticeable long-lasting color results, vibrancy and improved condition.
To make new color last longer than your New Year’s resolution, Tracey recommends a color extend shampoo and conditioner that helps shield, stabilize and secure color intensity.
Whether you decide to make a change in color or remain whatever shade of brunette, blond or red you currently are, remember rich classic color and healthy hair are two color-musts for 2008.
