Tress Tips:
Top Celebrity Stylists Dish on the Latest Products and Trends for Hair

October’s Featured Stylist: Danilo
He’s the man who makes hair ooze glam. You’ve seen the effortless volume he created for the recent L.A.M.B. show and can’t ignore the faultless hair that belongs to his celebrity clients Gwen Stefani and Cate Blanchett.

Pantene celebrity stylist Danilo is a man who knows how to create idealistic hair: hair that is glossy, bodiful, shiny and touchable. Not surprisingly, Danilo relies on old-school products like Prell and Jhirmack to clarify build-up.
According to Danilo, Prell is great for blondes who tend to experience dullness and muddy tone caused by build-up. When it comes to styling, he’s a big fan of the 2” barrel curling iron from Helen of Troy to achieve the “cascading hair” look of the moment. “The two-inch barrel airs just on the other side of straight,” says Danilo. “It’s quicker than using a big round brush and a blow-dryer and gives you nice volume and a smooth look.”

When it comes to cuts for the fall, Danilo predicts we’ll be seeing styles reminiscent of the 80s; shorter more linear cuts that can easily waver between casual and dressy. “Women grow their hair to cut it and cut it to grow it,” says Danilo. “We’re seeing boyish cuts and shoulder length bobs now that require a two to three inch chop to achieve.” Even though hair may be shorter volume is still king. Danilo likes Pantene Pro-V Body Builder Volumizing Mousse and Root Lifter Volumizing Spray Gel to give his clients visible results in minutes and texture that will last throughout the day.

With colder months approaching, Danilo recommends that women don’t shampoo as often and use a mask like Pantene Pro-V Restoratives Time Renewal Mask one to two times a month to reduce static electricity and restore moisture lost from indoor heating systems. He also suggests playing around with crèmes and anti-frizz lotions to increase hair’s suppleness, add shine and tame flyaways.

When speaking about the women he works with, Danilo referred to them as “powerhouses” and “overachievers.” We love him for saying women are the stronger sex, but there’s no denying that Danilo is the man when it comes to hair.
