Health & Fitness

Gyms are overcrowded and smelly is an excuse for not working out that I often hear. An excuse, but a valid one. Those of you who still brave these inconveniences, often end up having to wait for exercise equipment. This waiting time takes away from the great workout you intended to get when you walked into the gym. No wonder you feel fed up and frustrated.

Or perhaps, you’re one of the many who suffer from “gymphobia” – a fear and intimidation at the mere thought of exercising all by yourself, in front of others.

For those of you who can relate, put your minds at ease. Now, there is a solution.

Beneficial Fitness, a midtown Manhattan training studio, conveniently located at 34th and Madison, has opened for you. Founder/President Julian Walker, has created an environment far from crammed or intimidating.

The studio shares an exercise center with Physio Sports Center, owned by Physical Therapist Dawn Utstein, who has over 20 years of experience.

Beneficial Fitness is exclusively for one-on-one training, targeted to a client’s individual goals. There are no monthly fees and no working out without a trainer – every training session is well-supervised. No more wasting precious time waiting for machines. This allows for a workout with the most effective results.

Julian is not a cookie-cutter trainer. “I design a program unique to each individual client”, Julian explains. “We sit down and map out a program together, tailored with details very specific to achieve optimum results.”

Julian trains all levels, from the novice client who is picking up a weight for the very first time to one who is preparing for a triathlon and everything in between. As for his expertise, Julian is skilled in Post-rehab strength conditioning. This makes Physio Sports Center and Beneficial Fitness the perfect match. When necessary, Dawn and Julian refer their patients/clients to one another. They are also able to consult with one another about a particular patient/client.

The facility has oversized windows that let in sunlight and allow for a wonderful city view of midtown Manhattan. A welcome change from the many New York gyms and health clubs located in dark, dingy basements with no natural light.

So, if you are tired of spending more time waiting to workout than actually working out, call Beneficial Fitness. No more excuses. And don’t let feelings of intimidation keep you away from the gym, either…
