Health & Fitness

Living in NYC means being surrounded by amazing food 24/7, which can be both great and a terrible vice for those looking to eat healthy. Sure you can get a vegan feast at 3am, but you can also get countless slices of greasy pizza. The point here is that as a New Yorker, I’m constantly looking for ways to make healthy eating easy and something I don’t need to think a whole lot about. Shopping at farmers markets and health food stores is great, yet what about those weeks when you don’t have time to get there? Personal chefs or catering can come with a hefty price tag, but I’m happy to say I’ve found the solution for when you don’t have time to cook, shop or prepare healthy foods, and it’s called Nu-Kitchen.

Nu-Kitchen is a meal delivery service I discovered and recently tried for a week, and now deem it the perfect solution for when you’re too busy or in a general food slump. Nu-Kitchen delivers 100% fresh foods, made from scratch, to your door once in the morning in convenient cooler bags. You get to choose your daily meal, which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks from the list of weekly offerings, which are inventive, healthy and totally satisfying. Perfect for those who want to maintain their weight in the easiest fashion, all you do is heat up the meals and enjoy.

For people who are picky eaters, vegetarians or even cautious of their dairy intake, Nu-Kitchen has plenty of variety. It’s refreshing to try new dishes you normally wouldn’t eat, and the novelty enhances your dining experience. I stopped to savor the food, even when stuck at my desk during lunch. Some of my favorites included a unique take on spinach pie (for breakfast), a Greek bulgur and Israeli salad, a whole-wheat linguine with a creamy mushroom sauce and side of asparagus, and seared Mahi Mahi with carrot salad and yuzu. Snacks range from side salads, dips, and pita chips, to trail mix cookies and delicious raspberry bars. Each meal is also reasonably priced so you probably spend less on it than most take-out meals in New York – and these meals are actually healthy.
