Pilates, Yoga, Running, Pole Dancing, Swimming – which one of these have you NOT tried? For most women, pole-dancing holds connotations of female degradation and obscene nudity. (To be honest, before this class, the only pole-dancing I knew of was the very sleazy type seen on The Sopranos!)

The idea that pole-dancing can actually be a terrific way to get into sexy shape definitely raises some brows. Well, the instructor’s at Sheila Kelley’s S-Factor are determined to change the opinions of the masses! The S-Factor can best be described as sexy pilates: classes include learning strip-tease like dance choreography and then working the pole. The S-Factor’s mission is to help women of all body types feel empowered, confident, and sexy. The class is not a degrading strip tease in front of drooling men – but instead each class includes about 15 women, who cheer each other on as they perfect they’re twirls and enhance their flexibility on the pole. The environment is nurturing, sexy, and innovative. After a run, I usually feel as if I am closer to my goal body shape, but just not quite there yet. Leaving the S-Factor, I felt exhilarated and confident in the body that I already had. The class will definitely leave you feeling that great post-workout soreness in your legs, butt, abs, and thighs. What are you waiting for? Go work-it!
