You needn’t be a Japanophile or a Tim Burton freak in order to love Tokidoki, the artsy, too-cute line available exclusively at Sephora. Featuring packaging that looks more suited for a Japanese toy store than your Marc Jacobs tote, the expansive range of products doesn’t scrimp on quality for the sake of style! It’s all about form and content, with shadow palettes and lip stains in vibrant hues. When they said it was criminally cute, they were not kidding! Created by Italian artist Simone Legno, who worked with Hard Candy, I am in absolute lust for the Cromatico Eye Shadows, which live in skull and crossbone-shaped pans and come in bright and soft shades and in Matcha Matte, Soft Water Pearl and Tokyo Glitter finishes, which means you can wear them at all different times of day and mix and match! I also heart the Perfetto Eyeliner Pen, which has a chiseled tip and allows your top lash liner to look like a temporary tattoo! The color range is perfect for summer, from dark blues to bright pink and white flashes. There are also collectible charms, too.

No one makes a lip gloss quite like MAC. Lipglass. Lustreglass. Plushglass. Dazzleglass. All of the “glasses” cause lips to glisten and gleam like strobe lights. MAC has upped the ante with Superglass, a silicone and glitter infused gloss that could cross the line into drag queen territory, but doesn’t. It’s the glassiest gloss of the group, lacquering lips with mirrored shine. I suggest using this gloss, er, glass with a muted eye and skin, so your lips don’t compete with other features. My tip? Layer over your favorite shade of Lustreglass (mine’s the “green in the tube, honey-hued on the lips” Spring Bean) paired with Sugar Overload. Your lips will enter the room a full half-hour before you do.
Available at MAC counters and locations.
On the flip side, if you’re anti-gloss, Bobbi Brown’s Treatment Lip Shine SPF 15 is the foil to Super glass. It’s a feathery, soft shine lipstick that doubles as a rejuvenating treatment, soothing those dry, chapped lips with long-wearing moisture, thanks to natural Cocoa and Shea Butters, Jojoba, Apricot Kernel and Avocado oils. Peptides, along with Vitamin C and Paracress, which stimulate collagen production to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a simple product, but your smacker will be healthy, smooth and protected from sun damage. With 12 colors to choose from, you can tuck one in every handbag or beach tote.

Summer is here so lighter, chemical-free products are of the utmost importance and priority for maintaining skin’s health. PUR Minerals’ Hot Rocks is a patent-pending, micronized mineral makeup that brightens eyes, lips and cheeks, thanks to a perfect blend of pink and pearlized pigments. One product does it all, so be sure and take this on vacation, on beach outings and make it a summer staple, thanks to its light and low maintenance design!

Makeup can’t compete with heat and humidity, so Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray is the PERFECT summer product; it’s necessary when your skin works overtime at producing oil and thus ruining your makeup. De-Slick absorbs oil and controls shine. You’ll be left with a soft, matted complexion for up to 16 hours, if you count those types of things. The product also has temperature control technology, which prevents a complete and total makeup meltdown worthy of institutionalization.
So mist before and after application and throughout the day to combat product slide, shine and fade. I also have a huge crush on Pocket Rocket lip gloss in Kirk. The lickable crème brulee taste aside, it’s a summery beige hue that suits all skin tones.
Available at Sephora, Beauty.com and http://www.UrbanDecay.com.
Perhaps it’s way too soon to be thinking about the holidays with summer in its nascent months, but the gorgeous holiday look that Stila’s Sarah Lucero created for Rebecca Minkoff stuns with its breathy softness. Neutral nudes dominated eyes, while rosy pinks glazed cheeks and lips. Best of all, the look works for all seasons, not just the cold ones! I’m planning ahead. Check out these backstage shots of the looks Lucero created for Minkoff models!
Supermodel Iman is the wife of David Bowie and her eponymous makeup line is “must use” for women of color, thanks to the color payoff and richness of hue. She has added Luxury Radiance Liquid Makeup Enriched With Minerals; it’s perfect for women of color desiring sheer-to-medium coverage and eight shades. The Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder is a personal favorite of its namesake, and rather than fakin’ a bake, it merely enhances complexion or can be used as a wash-of-color blush. Luxury Lip Shimmer is packed with Chamomile, Vitamin E and Shea Butter – all things necessary for a smooch-worthy pout. The Luxury Eye Shadow is crease-resistant and the matte and low-luster pearl finishes work with all skin tones, which is something that cannot be said for all shades and lines.
