Dust off your hiking boots from the back of your closet, it’s time to go hiking with your hound. Leashes and Lovers (http://www.leashesandlovers.com) in partnership with Outward Bound are organizing hikes in July and August. Get back to nature and spend the day with your dog in the woods, and make new friends too.
Join the group for a six mile walk in the woods, with dogs and socializing, to Pine Meadow Lake and get yourself invigorated. You’ll have to be in good shape to head through rugged, rocky paths as you hike up craggy rises and past soggy marshes. As you head upwards you will come to the Cascade of Slid with its many waterfalls nestled among giant boulders. Your dog will no doubt want to get cooled down here. You’ll also pass the Stone Giants, which are fantastic granite rock formations broken into blocks by weathering.
Sign up for the Hikes And Hounds happening on June 19th, July 11th, and August 14th. Remember to bring lunch and you are also advised to bring 2 liters of water (minimum for you) plus water for your pet.
There are two departure spots – Downtown: 8:20 AM at 110 Greenwich St. (between Carlisle & Rector Sts.)
and Uptown: 9:00 AM at 73 and Broadway, NE corner (in front of Apple Bank). You’ll return to the city about 5 PM
