The Woman Behind the Hot Pink Curtain:
BeautyNews Talks Holiday Favorites and Fragrances with Betsey Johnson
By Allison O'Rourke
Recently at Macy’s Herald Square here in New York City, fashion designer Betsey Johnson made an appearance to celebrate her first foray into the world of fragrance, with her new scent Betsey. A gaggle of elated fans lined up in the fragrance department as Betsey signed fragrance bottles and posed for pictures with each and every one of them. Chatting up her fans, she beamed and the positive vibe was definitely contagious!
Always known for playing by her own rules, Betsey is no stranger to the unusual and outrageous when it comes to her colorful and ultra-girly designs. Her effervescent personality holds true for her fragrance as well. A fruity, floral scent that defies the traditional, it tempts the nose without overpowering, and as it dries down you’re left with a lingering femininity that’s just right.
I was lucky enough to interview the lady in leopard and pick her brain about the inspiration for her fragrance, what she loves about it, and lastly but certainly not least, her favorite holiday traditions. To see what Betsey had to say you can check out our amazing podcast with her here!!
Here are a few things Betsey dished to BeautyNewsNYC about how she spends her holidays.
BN: What is the one thing you can’t live without during the holiday season?
BJ: Seeing my family! It’s one of the few times I get to see my brother and sisters’ families together.
BN: Are you more of a “big holiday celebration” person or do you prefer quiet relaxing time off during the holidays?
BJ: I prefer to take it easy down in Mexico…
BN: What are some of the things on your holiday wish list this year?
BJ: This year I’m spending the holiday in San Juan with my daughter, her husband, his family, and my granddaughter, so I just wish that we all have a great time, that we all get to relax, and that my little granddaughter enjoys her first Christmas ever.
BN: Are you a good secret keeper when it comes to gift giving?
BJ: It depends who it is. I’m usually pretty good when it comes to keeping a gift a secret.
