We have approximately four weeks left to pound sand!
In that spirit, I compiled a list of some of the most interesting products that every guy should pack before they head to the beach. It doesn’t matter if you day trip to Fire Island or own a house in the Hamptons, this roundup will help men stay cool and clean up at the end of the day.
It’s a beach bum’s survival kit sans provisions.
Sunscreen is a number one priority. I chose HydroPeptide Solar Defense. What I like most about this product is the fact that it’s non-greasy and I also like that it self-adjusts to the color of your skin with agents that are anti-aging, hydrating and clarify the skin.
Use this on the face and wear a hat. Get a higher SPF for all exposed body parts. There is nothing handsome about melanoma.
HydroPeptide is available at most department stores and pharmacies.
Chilli Beans Sunglasses rock like Lenny Kravitz. In fact they have a pair for Kravitz Design. While some guys can sport that look, I really like the Brown Wood frames by Herchcovitch (above). This Brazilian eyewear and accessory company offer many styles and colors to choose from and a fashion forward philosophy. They are the most popular brand in Latin American and spreading through the states like a riptide with their introduction in California.
They not only protect your eyes but also make you look awesome.
Leave behind the terrycloth bath towels and the cartoon beach blankets and buy a durable linen towel at LinenMe. I am very glad that I discovered this company from Lithuania. The quality and selection are superior. Another reason that I selected LinenMe is because when heading to the beach, sand gets trapped in terrycloth and other cotton fabrics but shakes loose easier from linen. Buy several for the beach and add a couple more for the bath. Quality over quantity always wins in my opinion.
It’s a family owned business for three generations.

There is nothing worse than spending a day at the beach in the sand and surf and then having to travel home or to your hotel wearing the same soggy and gritty clothes. This year, I recommend an extra pair of men’s boxer briefs by Tani. Theses colorful and light-weight undergarments are made to keep guys dry by wicking away moisture. Change under your new linen towel or in the cabana and you won’t have that long trek of wetness.

After a fantastic and sunny day at the beach, there is nothing worse than the taste of salt water in your mouth. Toss a toothbrush in your bag. I recommend the Reach Complete Care toothbrush. I’ve tested them and the difference exists in the bristles. The deep cleaning technology gets hard-to-reach places, it’s almost as thorough as flossing.

Along with a toothbrush, I suggest the VioLight case. This product is nothing short of amazing. While protecting your brush in a state-of-the-art case, a UV light sanitizes the brush head. This is most important as you travel. Exposed toothbrushes are welcoming germs when thrown into a bag or left on a sink. This case will eliminate harmful microorganisms. I think it’s a great travel item for the beach and to help maintain oral hygiene.

Men always need an extra t-shirt in their beach bag. Not all t-shirts are made the same. This is why I’m recommending Thompson Tee with their hydro-shield sweatproof technology. Even on the hottest days of summer, there will be no sweat stains under the arms as the shields are built right into the shirt — no perspiration means no odor. They work.

My last pick for the beach has more to do with style than necessity but this item is so perfect for walking the boardwalk, biking the boards or playing with the kids in the arcade or a volley ball match. U-Lace makes sneakers a work of art and easier to slip on or kick off. The bands come in a multitude of colors and with instructions on how to create different patterns. I’ve tried them and I have to admit that they make it much faster to get out the door and hit the surf.

Be safe, enjoy the rest of the summer and kick up some sand.
