Summer is here, the 4th of July is coming up quick, skipping work on a Friday isn’t frowned upon, and it’s time to fire up the grill! Before you grab the suntan lotion, a bag of charcoal and just throw a piece of meat on you should have an idea of what’s out there first.

Budweiser has an AMAZING new line of sauces that will be made available at major grocery stores nationwide the week of July 4th. The sauces include Budweiser Basting Sauce, Budweiser Wing Sauce, Budweiser Barbecue Sauce, and the Beechwood Smoked Budweiser Barbecue Sauce.

Keen to the fact that barbecuing is no longer just about burgers that can pass for hockey pucks and plain old hot dogs, Budweiser teamed up with Chef Brent Wertz from Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia to create some more refine recipes that incorporate their new line.

Grilled Artichoke and Asparagus Salad

12 artichoke heart halves
1 bunch asparagus spears
2 yellow peppers, cut into strips
4 oz. Budweiser Baste Sauce
4 oz. Budweiser
1 pint cherry tomatoes, cut in half
2 oz. Feta cheese, crumbles
1 lemon (zest entire peel)
2 tbsp. herb vinaigrette dressing

In a bowl combine the Budweiser Baste Sauce with the Budweiser. Add the artichoke hearts, asparagus spears and peppers and marinate for 30 minutes. Grill vegetables until tender, let cool. Combine grilled vegetables, tomatoes, lemon zest and feta cheese with your favorite vinaigrette dressing.

Clearly Budweiser has come a long way from their racing roots! Never the less, you should still bring their new sauce to your next tailgate party!

While you’re planning on bringing some new things to fire this summer you should take a look at the Pigtail. This handy tool makes working the grill infinitely easier. A quick turn of the wrist skewers your steak without squeezing those tasty juices out like tongs do. The sharp point easily pierces the meat, while the curve of the tool hooks into it so you can easily pick it up and flip.

The only grill item that the Pigtail is not suited for is burgers, but as we all know you’ve got to be cooking more than just burgers to really make an impression at grill this summer. The Pigtail is available in a wooden presentation box, and makes the perfect gift for your host this summer. Personally I can’t wait to use this for my famous ribs over the 4th; tongs or a spatula has never quite been able to do the job right.
