Metro Man & Metro Home

By Kim Taylor

Imagine beautiful, adult-style games with an emphasis on graphics and color, games fit for a modern museum that you can whip out along with the specialty cocktails at home for a memorable evening. They exist – they’re called Spec-Trix, Array and CUBU.

Spec-Trix is about building groups within the color spectrum with 96 colored cards, mixing and matching your own cards as well as others, and collapsing them into white light are all part of the hue-based strategy in this captivating game.

With CUBU, the idea is to follow number and color sequences and attempt to avoid illusion confusion. This will test your visual perception and provide excellent diversion on a winter’s night.

Array can be played on a table or on a floor; if played on a floor, you’ll see just how extensive your color array can be in terms of sprawl. Splatter and Slam cards keep everything unpredictable, which of course translates to lively and challenging.
