According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, their 2014 survey shows that employers expect to hire approximately 7.8 percent more graduates from the Class of 2014 than they hired in 2013. That’s very good news.
These new grads are going to need certain things to head out into the professional world. I devised a quick list of great items that will help all bright, stylish and eager gents put their best foot forward.
It’s time to toss that childish backpack and upgrade to a new bag that compliments professional attire. Jack + Mulligan has a wonderful line of bags and their Kennedy Duffle Bag is at the top of my list.
This bag is very versatile and can be utilized to carry paperwork and today’s tech gadgets, it doubles as a sports bag or a weekend travel bag. It’s ruggedly handsome and crafted for durability with a water-resistant canvas. It has a large interior compartment and a smaller zipper pocket that I find convenient for holding my keys and sunglasses. The handles are chocolate leather and it has a detachable shoulder strap. The color choices are olive/navy, khaki/olive (above) or red/khaki.
This is the perfect gift for the new generation of men on-the-go.

Gentleman’s Brand Co. is the brainchild of three Australians — A Creative, An Entrepreneur and an Alchemist. I am a big fan of their Regime 3-Pack: face wash, body wash and daily moisturizer. These products are void of harsh chemicals and made with only organic ingredients harvested from the outback. This system will help keep the grad clean and fresh and ready to carpe diem. The products are condensed so a little goes a long way. The light scent of coconut and macadamia is refreshing.

That Makes Scents
Kenneth Cole has recently released their latest cologne for men and it’s a real hit with young men. Mankind is a masculine scent with fresh notes of pear, cardamom and pineapple. It also has a base of cedar wood, cashmere woods and a hint of cinnamon.
Women have a keener sense of smell and every guy should take heed when entering the work force. If you want to make a lasting impression, spray a little of this cologne before that important interview.
Mankind is available at all fine department stores.
Here’s to a fresh start!
Shop Like a Pro
A friend of mine recently introduced me to a wonderful men’s shop in Hell’s Kitchen. Fine and Dandy is a great boutique that offers many unique items for stylish men and today’s grads. From ties to pocket squares, socks, belts, jewelry and more select items that you simply won’t find at the mall. Many of the products in the store are manufactured locally. I’m a huge fan of their bow ties and tie clips. They even sell spats.
You’ll enjoy perusing their inventory. It’s for men who don’t believe in casual Friday. Shopkeepers Matt Fox and Enrique Crame III will help you chose the perfect gifts. Visit their store or shop online.
