There’s truly something magical about watching your kids enjoy the circus for the first time (or second or third). Their eyes light up as they laugh at the silly clowns and witness flying acrobats soaring through the air. Fortunately, the circus is coming to town this month! May 18th-June 15th the Big Apple Circus will be in Queens, New York’s Cunningham Park performing their pulse-racing show, Luminocity!
This exciting show is chock full of tried and true circus favorites as well as new and unique acts. Throughout the high energy 2-hour long show (which includes one intermission), you’ll be thoroughly entertained by talented jugglers, clowns, trained dogs and horses, flying acrobats, high-wire walkers and a variety of other circus artists from all over the world. It all takes place in one circus ring under a quintessential climate-controlled Big Top, where no seat is more than 50 feet from ringside (though be warned… the closer you are, the more likely you’ll end up actually in the show!).
My kids were engaged and enthralled by the extraordinary talents of these inspirational performers the entire length of the show. They’ve been talking about it non-stop ever since seeing it in Bridewater, New Jersey last month. I can only imagine the energy of a New York City audience as they enjoy Luminosity, which is actually set in Manhattan’s Times Square!
You might not escape the Big Apple Circus without multiple trips to the cotton candy station or souvenir stand but you’ll definitely leave with a clown car full of happy memories.
