Metro Mama & Metro Baby

When I found out I was pregnant, one of the first things I worried about was my changing body’s future wardrobe. As a first-time mama to be and avid fashion lover, I couldn’t help but have a sense of dread thinking how I could possibly still be fashionable while pregnant. In my mind, maternity clothes are not cute. Surprisingly, what I’ve learned as my belly grows is that you do not have to give up fashion for function. There are so many brands out there that are changing the stigma on pregnancy style. Here are some of my favorite looks and accessories that I’m rocking through my third trimester.

Wilson’s Leather Motorcycle Jacket: One of my style staples is a good black leather jacket. When I came across this beauty from Wilson’s Leather, I had to find a way to incorporate it into my maternity style. This is a true motorcycle jacket and I wear it open to accommodate my baby bump. The quality is top notch, and the leather is super heavy, durable and warm so it’s perfect for the cold weather. It adds a touch of edge to whatever I’m wearing underneath, but the lacing on the side keeps it slightly feminine. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect leather jacket!

ASOS Velvet Dress: One of the biggest trends this winter is velvet and just because you’re preggo, doesn’t mean you can’t rock this chic look. I love this deep navy version by ASOS, who by the way, has the best, most extensive line up of trendy maternity clothes.

Madewell Maternity Jeans: It was a life changing experience for me when I discovered that Madewell, one of my absolute favorite brands, made maternity jeans. I love the cali demi-boot jean style in hayes wash. The stretchy waistband is super comfy and the ultra-dark wash is very forgiving.

Topshop Top: Who says you can’t wear a sexy top with a bump? Show off your shoulders and décolletage with this flattering top by Topshop. Paired with your favorite (maternity) skinny jeans, you will still feel like the trendy girl you were just a few months before your bump arrived.

Reformation Lucien Dress: This is not marketed as a maternity dress, but the medium, eco-rib material it’s made out of will stretch with your growing belly and never look tight or be uncomfortable. Plus, it will adjust back to size after baby is born.

ASOS Coat by Modern Eternity: I must confess, another fashion crisis I’ve had being pregnant in the winter is not being able to close any of my coats. That is, until I found this stylish puffer from ASOS. Not only does it have room to accommodate a bump, but it also converts to provide a space for carrying baby.

The Bugaboo Bee by Diesel Rock Stroller: This collaboration between Diesel and Bugaboo is the perfect mobility solution for fashionista mamas. Featuring a wax-coated fabric and leather-look, the Bugaboo by Diesel Rock collection is edgy yet stylish, giving off the rebellious spirit so moms can keep living their life on the fly…. and in style, of course!
