Metro Mama & Metro Baby

By Dian Mills

Stratagem™, the debut offering from 6th Gear Games, is on Kickstarter now until May 30. This family-friendly abstract strategy game is surprisingly addictive with a ruthless “take that” charm.

An ideal balance of luck and strategy, Stratagem is light enough for family fun night but substantial enough to be a go-to choice for the most avid gamer. Players take turns moving their pawns around the board, claiming each space they enter with hexagon tiles. Each claimed space that survives a round is converted to a controlled space and points are scored. Action cards can be played to ensure that nobody is ever safe (or counted out). The first person to reach a predetermined number of points wins the game and major bragging rights!

Stratagem’s benefits go far beyond simple enjoyment, though. It has few rules and they are simple enough for children to understand and follow. It’s a book and lecture-free way for parents and teachers to help young people develop crucial skills such as:

• Problem Solving
• Strategic Thinking
• Rational Thinking
• Cooperation
• Probability

The more these skills are used and honed, the more fun the gameplay!
During development of Stratagem, disabilities such as color blindness, short term memory loss and low vision impairment were also considered. The result: a fast-paced, easy-to-learn game that everybody can enjoy.

Back this project on Kickstarter today and ensure that Stratagem will be a part of your family fun nights by the holidays.
